'Proof of life' UCT Undergraduates Exhibition

Art school can be both a nurturing experience and a hostage situation with much of the work produced during these formative years being only viewed by classmates and family.

Projects at an undergraduate level are designed with specific lessons or techniques in mind for the undergraduate to achieve. Yet, there is still that magic space for the fresh shoots of an original interpretation to push through the top soil and wink at the sunlight.

Proof of Life explores such moments within creative training. Chosen from among the works previously submitted to UCT’s Michaelis School of Fine Art for examinations, the show presents a variety of the beautiful techniques and fresh concepts that are born at this level of study.

VANSA’s commitment to educating arts practitioners makes this the perfect space for a first time curator to engage with first time exhibitors as guided by the professionalism of the gallery director. From this incubator of creative output I present to you a select group of rough diamonds.
