AFRICA 101 Brings the Continent's Arts and Culture to Cape Town

African contemporary art will also feature on the programme of Africa 101, an African arts campus - the first ever such initiative for Cape Town and SA - hosted by AFAI at Artscape from 24 to 29 October 2011.

Supported by the Goethe-Institute, Africa 101 gives Capetonians and visitors the opportunity to travel the length and breadth of this dynamic continent and its wealth of creative expressions in a week-long exploration of the current trends, icons and innovations in African arts and culture. The jam-packed programme include Art Studio walkabouts - to Greatmore, Good Hope and Pan African Market Studios; play readings, lecture series on African art and visual culture (Andrew Lamprecht), literature (Harry Garuba), cinema (Bridget Thompson) and music (Kolade Arogundade) as well as free lunch-time lectures and discussions.

View the day and week programme on the calendar at www.africanartsinstitute.org.za or email info@afai.org.za or call 021-465 9027.
