VANSA KZN Presents "THE WRITERS WORKHOP" to be held on 18 & 19 FEBRUARY 2012 at THE COLLECTIVE by PETER MACHEN. Peter Machen is one of South Africa's leading arts writers. Multi-talented Machen is also a layout artist and publication designer, photographer and editor. He has written for the following publications: the Weekend Witness, Independent on Saturday, Sawubona, Metrobeat, and various other publications and websites. He has produced a range of publications for numerous clients, including the British Council, eThekwini Municipality and the KZNSA Gallery. He also regularly exhibits his work in photographic exhibitions.

Peter Machen is one of South Africa's leading arts writers. Multitalented Machen is also a layout artist and publication designer, photographer and editor. This workshop is designed for young upcoming artists in the industry, art students and arts graduates who are searching for their path with in the creative industry, established artists are welcome as well.
The workshop focuses on article writing, proposals, artist statements, motivational letters and branding (business cards, letterheads etc). The workshop is divided into two consecutive days, the first day involves an introduction to the fundamentals of writing articles, proposals and motivational/application letters, through a hands-on, experiential approach. The second day will involve peer evaluation with reference to writing produced by participants, with practical editorial inputs from the facilitator. The afternoon session will address the writing of artists statements and branding.
