Invitation to Apply-Digital Skills

The Digital Skills Workshop is meant to augment an artists skill set with digital production and program knowledge that is tailored to an artists needs in todays well known modes of production such as: laser cutting, digital printing, video conversion, vinyl cutting, CAD drawings, publication .... among others.

Today’s art world requires, of artists, ever greater and greater knowledge of digital production techniques. Yet these skills are largely lacking in the artists repertoire of tools of production. This may restrict or reduce the financial rewards due to the artist. The Digital Skills Workshop is meant to augment an artists skill set with digital production and program knowledge that is tailored to an artists needs in todays well known modes of production such as: laser cutting, digital printing, video conversion, vinyl cutting, CAD drawings, publication .... among others.

The workshop will be structured around real world examples of projects that require various digital skills for final production. The workshop will for the three programs (Illustrator, InDesign and AutoCAD) give a short introduction and instruction of the functioning of the program. Most importantly greater emphasis will be given to process of creating art-related content by focusing on specific program workflows that create the product outcomes as digital content.

It is hoped that this workshop will allow artists to have better control of their final works by giving them the skills to create the works themselves, or to have a greater understanding of the processes involved in digital production.

Day 1 - Saturday 25 February
10:00 - 16:00 Digital Content Introduction

Day 2 - Sunday 26 February
10:00 - 15:00 Vector meets CAD, AutoCAD basics introduction

Day 3 - Saturday 03 March
10:00 - 16:00 Publishing, InDesign basics introduction, placing, formatting, importing.

Day 4 - Sunday 04 March
10:00 - 15:00 Practical work

Course fee: R250.00

Should you be unable to afford the course fee please include an additional motivation for sponsorship in this regard.
