Wits School of Arts Invites Applications for Painting Lecturer

The Division of Visual Arts in the Wits School of Arts invites applications for the sessional staff position listed below. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of full-time and part-time academics and professionals in the Wits School of Arts, an interdisciplinary school comprising Fine Arts, History of Art, Dramatic Arts, Music, Film and Television, Digital Arts, Arts and Culture Management, and Heritage Studies.

Successful applicants for the lecturer position will be expected to participate in the administration of courses and attend divisional meetings.

Lecturer (1 post) Fine Arts (Painting 1st and 2nd year)
Minimum academic requirement: MAFA or equivalent qualification

  • Duties: Teaching painting courses in Fine Arts in the first and second years of study. The successful applicant will be required to develop and teach a first year painting project from the 10 April to the 25 May (term 2) and a second year painting project from the 16 July to the 31 August (term 3).
  • He/she will also be expected to participate in the assessment of student work during the examinations (May-June and October-November 2012).
