The Lovell Gallery Artists Competition identifies fresh and collectable artists - young or new artists that are going to become collectable, as well as professional artists of any age that are doing great fresh work.

The New Signatures art competition, established by the Association of Arts Pretoria in the early 1960s and sponsored by Sasol for the past 22 years, has opened for entries for the 2012 competition.

Entries will be accepted in 2012 from any artist who creates and completes their work in the 12 months leading up to the closing date – 31st August 2012. The organisers invite artists to submit, subject to the conditions hereunder mentioned, a painting or composition that depicts life in and around the game and sport of cricket, in settings of backyard, street, beach, park, village green or social-cricket cricket.

The Anvil Awards, or Annies, has been created to recognise the ultimate graphic design, web design, branding, illustration and photography, brought to life by South African talent, for South African clients.

The competition is held annually for artists between the ages of 21 and 35. This award not only ensures South Africa’s emerging artists of recognition, but also affords them the opportunity to develop their talents abroad. Eleven prizes are awarded: the overall winner receives R110 000 in total from Absa, as well as a return air ticket to Paris, France.

The New Technological Art Award from the Liedts-Meesen Foundation aims to reward young living artists for a work in the area defined above that was created in the past two years. The prize goes to a specific work that is submitted and not to different realizations of an artist.

The Festival is open to all international videoartists. Participation is free.

The First International Reggae Poster Contest 2012 is open for entries for our 2012 edition, The Reggae Poster Contest 2012 from December 26 2011 until March 30 2012. The best posters will be selected by a jury of design profession and will be published in a catalogue/book and exhibited.

The Portrait Award, now in its thirty-third year at the National Portrait Gallery and twenty-third year of sponsorship by BP, is an annual competition aimed at encouraging artists to focus upon and develop portraiture in their work.

The Your Street KZN Challenge calls on KZN designers, students, residents and creatives to use their creativity to enhance an aspect of their street. A total of R250 000 is up for grabs for designers with the best, most feasible ideas for owning, loving and improving their street, together with a plan for implementing the idea.
