We are seeking to appoint motivated employees in the following positions:

 

 

 

ART COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT

(Iziko South African National Gallery)

 

CURATOR OF CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURE

Salary: R199 368 – R269 748 per annum, plus benefits

Requirements: Appropriate degree/ diploma in History of Art or Fine Art Ÿ At least three years’ experience working in an art gallery/ museum or related field Ÿ Relevant knowledge in the field of art with a proven record of curating, research and publication Ÿ Particular interest and curatorial experience in contemporary South African and African art Ÿ Computer literacy Ÿ Driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities include: Delivering on curatorial functions in relation to the collections of Contemporary Paintings, sculpture, performance and installations. Ÿ Communicating specialist research findings to the public through publications, exhibitions, popular articles, website and public programmes.

 

LIBRARIAN: ART LIBRARY

Salary: R137 376 - R185 904 per annum, plus benefits

Requirements: B Bibl degree or a Bachelor’s degree plus Higher Diploma in Library Science Ÿ At least five years’ experience as a Reference Librarian Ÿ Understanding of database systems and knowledge management systems Ÿ Experience in working in an Art Library would be an advantage Ÿ Computer literacy

Key Responsibilities include: Managing a centralised information system and database, and all tasks related to an Art Library Ÿ Managing staff in the Art library Ÿ Providing access to information as required by staff, researchers and members of the public

 

 

 

EDUCATION AND PUBLIC PROGRAMMES DEPARTMENT

(Iziko South African National Gallery and South African Museum)

 

SENIOR MUSEUM EDUCATOR (ART)

Salary: R160 392 - R216 984 per annum, plus benefits

Requirements: Bachelors degree with diploma in education or Teachers Diploma with relevant specialization in Art Ÿ At least five years’ experience in education or public programmes Ÿ Experience in using OBE methodology Ÿ Computer literacy Ÿ Driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities include: Managing museum educators Ÿ Reporting on education programmes Ÿ Liaising with WCED regarding the curriculum Ÿ Initiating, developing, presenting and promoting collections-based education programmes and resources Ÿ Overseeing education programmes and conducting guided tours.

 

 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Iziko benefits comprise generous contributions towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory), a designated medical aid (voluntary) and a housing subsidy (voluntary).
