Our previous VANSA Opportunities Update featured an entry “CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: NEW YORK BIENNALE ART INTERNATIONAL CONTEST”.  It has since come to our attention that a number of concerns have been expressed about the NYBiennale, and its director, Pietro Franesi.  Without implying any position on the claims or counterclaims of any of the individuals or organisations involved in or commenting on this project, we have reproduced an email related to this matter below, and advise tinterested parties to exercise caution:

Dear All,

In the last few weeks I contact you inviting you, your artists, your
students, your websites or your journals to take in consideration the
art shows “Ney York Biennale Art” and “International contest for a
solo show in New York’.
I would like to inform you that I am not work anymore with the curator
Pietro Franesi.

The comments in the blog are very hard and they speak about a fraud. I
do not know if the Art shows are real or not. I know that the
possibility to have a Solo show in NY is wonderful but I want to
suggest you to take in consideration also the negative risk that all
is a fraud.

I am sorry for the inconvenient. I just decide to close all my work
contact with the NY Biennale and Pietro Franesi, and I thought that
was correct to inform you about it.
