“Arts Savvy”
A series of short skills workshops for emerging arts practioners.
PANSA and VANSA are the national umbrella civic networking organisations serving the performing and visual arts communities respectively. They are made up of industry volunteers who campaign, lobby and network on behalf of the performers and artists in KZN and facilitate projects and initiatives to improve the arts industry.
Arts Savvy is an initiative of the PANSA / VANSA KZN as a support project for their ongoing internship programme supported by Africalia to empower emerging arts practioners and encourage sustainable self-sufficiency.
During the year there will be various workshops / master-classes and lectures. There will also be lectures prior to select productions and gallery exhibitions during the course of the year.
The weekend workshop sessions will have all have theoretical and practical components.
Arts Savvy is free for all paid-up PANSA and VANSA members.
Each session is 50 minutes long.
To find out more about becoming a member of either VANSA or PANSA contact Domy Cortes. Membership fees will be accepted prior to the workshops in each instance.
As one of the few independent theatres staging original local work, The Catalina Theatre in Wilsons Wharf is dedicated to being a vital component of the development of the arts community in KZN. To this end, the Catalina will be hosting the workshop sessions.
